FAQs

  • Each student learns and progresses at their own pace. Younger and more reserved students may require more lessons than their older and more adventurous counterparts. Typically, we aim to observe significant skill development within a minimum of eight lessons. Instructors assess students during each lesson to tailor their instruction according to individual needs. If you have any concerns regarding the progression of your students, please do not hesitate to contact the administration so we can make the necessary adjustments to their program.

  • To ensure the safety and well-being of our students and instructors, we may need to cancel or reschedule lessons in the event of inclement weather. We will provide notifications as early as possible, dependent on the circumstances. Should adverse weather conditions arise during a lesson, and the instructor determines it is necessary to conclude the session, our administration will reach out to you to address the situation on a case-by-case basis.

  • If your student is unwell prior to their scheduled lessons, please notify us as soon as possible. The health and safety of our instructors, as well as the students and families we engage with daily, is a top priority. The administration is available to assist you in rescheduling lessons with appropriate notice. Instructors reserve the right to decline a lesson if a student appears visibly ill upon arrival. In such cases, rescheduling or refunds may not be possible.

  • On the morning of your lesson, please ensure that the pool is clean and that the chemical levels are properly balanced. Remove any toys, flotation devices, and pool vacuums from the pool prior to your instructor's arrival, as a tidy backyard minimizes distractions for students during lessons.

If you discover that your pool is not in optimal condition for the lesson—due to unbalanced chemicals, dirt, or contamination from animals—please contact administration immediately. This will allow us to inform your instructor and reschedule your lesson if necessary. Additionally, on windy days, it may be advisable to skim the pool shortly before your instructor arrives.

  • Ensure that your student is in their swimsuits and have applied sunscreen prior to the instructor's arrival. It is advisable for students to use the restroom before the lesson begins. To minimize interruptions during the lesson, provide each student with a towel and water for the duration of the class. Additionally, keep meals light before swim class, or allow a brief interval between eating and the start of the lesson to reduce the likelihood of accidents in the pool. A few words of positivity and encouragement can be quite beneficial as well!

  • There are several essential strategies that parents can employ to enhance their child's learning process. One effective approach is to engage in practice sessions, whether by introducing their child to water during bath time or by practicing skills in the pool between formal lessons. Consistency and repetition are also critical components of a child's learning experience. Maintaining a regular lesson schedule and minimizing the time between sessions can significantly improve retention and lead to more rapid progress. It is equally important to ensure that the learning environment remains enjoyable and positive, fostering a sense of fun and encouragement around water activities.
